Name: Cameron Chin
Race Experience: Off Road Experience: Member Texas Motorized Trail Coalition (2000-present) Mechanical Experience: Education: Bachelor of Arts in Art, University of Texas Austin (1998-2005) Objective: To race and win in the various desert racing organizations such as SCORE, SNORE, and the Best in the Desert Series in the JeepSpeed Class 17 and VW Class 5 Unlimited Commentary: Born and raised in Houston, I longed for departure to the promise land. When my college career began at UT, I knew Austin would be home. My off road career immediately followed with the creation of Longhorn Offroad; the University’s first automotive student organization. This was my introduction to the world of rock crawling. Until 2007, my largest goals were growing the success of my off road fabrication shop, continue local weekend wheeling, and becoming a professional rock racer in the CalROC/UROC circuit along side my close friend, Hal Frost. Out of the blue, an offer was made to work for Charlie Wilson in the 40th Annual Baja 500. It was the Hooters Class 1 team and chase driving down insane Mexican trails that would change my life forever. I have been very fortunate to have such great friends supporting me in my endeavors. The success of Krawltex Motorsports and the beginning of my desert racing career can only be attributed to the wonderful people I have met along the way. I met David Cardosa shortly after the 500. In January 2008, he purchased a class 5 unlimited VW with a long winning race pedigree. Together we amassed Bombshell Racing and had our first race at the Best in the Desert series Parker 425. |
